What it is
Shush plays a real woman's slow shhh and a small library of calming sounds for a newborn, from birth to about four months. You start it with Siri, put the phone down, and it plays all night.
What makes it different
- A real voice. The lead sound is a recording of a real person, not a synthesised loop.
- Siri start and stop. "Hey Siri, shush the baby" works from a locked phone, with your hands full.
- All night by default. No timer to fight with at 3 a.m. Set a timer only if you want one.
- Every loop is tested for seams. No clicks, no gaps, no sudden silence.
- Nothing else. No accounts, no onboarding carousel, no notifications, no analytics.
What it is not
Shush does not claim to make a baby sleep in a set number of minutes, and it makes no medical or developmental claims. It is a sound machine with a good voice and a Siri button.
Safety
Keep the phone out of the cot and out of the baby's reach. Keep the volume at a level you would be comfortable listening to yourself. Follow your health service's guidance on safe sleep.
